Thank you for visiting my website! My name is Ms. Heidenescher (or Ms. H, for short!) and I am fortunate to work with the wonderful children, families, and teachers across the three elementary schools in District 23. I am the primary School Psychologist at Eisenhower Elementary school, supporting preschool, kindergarten & first grade students, families, and teachers. Additionally, I work closely with families of children in the State of Illinois Birth-3 Early Intervention program to coordinate their transition into the Early Childhood program in District 23 and provide support to select students and their families & teachers at Betsy Ross and Anne Sullivan Elementary Schools. My office is located at Eisenhower Elementary School; however, you may reach me by phone or email as I check both regularly throughout the school day.
I have been a Nationally Certified School Psychologist (NCSP) since beginning my career in District 23 in 2008. I received my bachelor's degree from the University of Michigan, with a double concentration in Psychology and Spanish. I completed my Education Specialist (Ed.S.) degree in School Psychology at the University of Florida before returning to my home state of Illinois to complete my School Psychology internship in Lombard-Villa Park School District 45.
One of my favorite quotes about education is from Dr. James Corner, who said: "No significant learning occurs without a significant relationship". Helping children to form positive, encouraging, and supportive connections with their teachers and school communities is foundational to developing children's feelings about themselves as learners and their commitment to their own education.
